Capture the spirit of your pet or your favourite animals in wool! In this relaxed and creative workshop, you’ll learn how to use needle felting techniques to build a beautiful flat wool portrait. Using layers of coloured wool, you’ll explore texture, blending and fine detail to create a soft and expressive image.

Perfect for all skill levels, no sculpting experience needed. Just bring a photo of your pet or chosen animal and lets bring it to life in wool!

You will learn:

• Wool preparation and layering
• Needle felting techniques for depth and detail
• Colour blending and shading
• Creating texture and expression

Ideal for ages 10 and up. All materials provided.

About your instructor, Ixchel Suarez
Ixchel Suarez has been a textile and fibre artist for almost 40 years. Her practice explores material and concept, particularly in Tapestry, in non-conventional ways. Her integration of Abstract Expressionism with Tapestry has been Internationally recognized on numerous occasions. Her most recent recognition was the 2021 Award of Excellence, From Lausanne to Beijing, Fibre Art Biennale, and being the Selected Artist to open the DIVERSEartPB–Art Palm Beach 2026.
