Description
Sybil Rampen is a cornerstone in the Canadian Fibre Art world and has helped to elevate the status of contemporary fibre art in this country over the last 30 years.
A talented artist in her own right, Sybil has encouraged and inspired countless emerging artists with her generous spirit and her experimental approach to the creative process. Along with her own practice, Sybil built an art centre –which is a place of inspiration, on the beautiful nature-filled grounds of her ancestral home in Oakville Ontario.
Sybil has travelled extensively, authored numerous books and taught hundreds of classes – sharing her own ingenious fibre art techniques. Sybil gives back in every sense. Her vision, determination, generosity, experimentation and dedication to fibre art, combined with her positive outlook provides the recipe for Sybil’s full and successful life.
CONNECTIONS FIBRE ARTISTS are fortunate to have known, and worked with Sybil, and are paying tribute to this humble but deserving unsung hero. Our “SYBIL” show is an exhibition of contemporary fibre art focusing on her amazing life.
